Hiking & Forest Walks:
The trail up to the Fyrish Monument is a local favourite—steeped in history and rewarded with incredible views once you reach the top. If you’re after something gentler, a peaceful wander through Couhill Wood is just the thing. Expect birdsong, dappled light, and that unmistakable forest calm.

Mountain Biking:
The trails around Evanton, Loch Glass, and Meall an Tuirc offer the perfect mix of challenge and scenery. With rolling climbs and sweeping views, you’ll get your heart pumping and your camera working overtime.

Wild Swimming & Paddleboarding:
There are a few lochs just a short walk away where you can slip into the water or glide along on a paddleboard. It’s a lovely way to cool off, unwind, and feel completely off the grid.

Fishing:
For a slower pace, try casting your line into the River Alness. It’s well known for salmon and sea trout, and even if you don’t catch anything, the peaceful surroundings make it well worth the time.

Local Dining & Attractions

Alness:
The closest town to Beechwood Lodge. A couple of traditional pubs, cafes and shops along the High Street. As well as a Morrisons, Lidl and Co-op for necessities and petrol.

Tain:
Tain is Scotland’s oldest Royal Burgh, and it absolutely charms. Think cobbled streets, independent shops, inviting cafés, and centuries of history to explore. With the sea nearby and a real sense of heritage in the air, it’s a beautiful place to spend a slow afternoon.

Business Stay

"Proper lovely place, comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in, regularly cleaned to an immaculate level and the host and cleaner couldn’t be nicer people. Beautiful views and prime location 10/10"

Family Holiday

"Booked for a 5 night stay in the Easter school break. Excited to arrive at tranquil location to unwind and explore. Welcome included a surprise easter egg and cake which my sons loved. The property had all the extras needed to enjoy a self catering stay and great internet connection. The boys spent hours enjoying the spaces including the garden with BBQ area. Waking up to sit in conservatory looking onto the windmills on the far off hills and the shower were my personal highlights. Definitely will be booking a longer stay in future so I have time to go hiking further and perhaps even take a bike. Neighbours were also very friendly and kind towards us which is brilliant when visiting a new area."
